AdWeek: It isn’t often in advertising that we get a happy ending that isn’t totally fictional and «brought to you by.» But here one is, in all its furry glory! In early May, we wrote about Glimpse Collective’s Kickstarter quest to replace all the ads in a London Underground station with images of cats.
If you arrived at Clapham Common tube station one morning to find that every advert had been replaced with pictures of cats, you’d no doubt logically conclude that our feline friends paid for the initiative as part of their first steps towards world domination. And in a way you’d be right, because the stunt was indeed paid for by CATS.
All the Ads in This London Subway Station Have Been
As part of a Kickstarter campaign in partnership with two animal rescue shelters, all ads in the London subway station have temporarily been replaced by pictures of cats. Travelers passing through the Clapham Common subway station over the next two weeks will see an unusual sight.

After a very successful tongue-in-cheek Kickstarter campaign, the so-called Citizens Advertising Takeover Service (CATS) has managed to replace 68 advertisements in the station with … cat photos.
It’s happening! Cats are taking over! And it’s starting with Clapham Common tube station in London Underground, where all of the billboard ads have been replaced overnight by the pictures of… you’ve guessed it… cats.

For the next two weeks, pictures of cats with big round eyes will stare out at you from the spot where ads used to hang. Sixty-eight cat photos in fact. That’s a lot of cute for a commute.
For the next two weeks, The Citizens Advertising Takeover Service has replaced 68 ads in a subway station on London’s Tube system with pictures of cats. This is not a marketing stunt. The people behind CATS (get it?) are volunteers who raised the money to do this on Kickstarter.
